Beauty, Broken

During one of countless conversations with a friend, she asked me if I had ever heard of kintsugi. I hadn’t. It’s a Japanese art where broken pottery is put back together with lacquer that is mixed with gold. I instantly felt that this so perfectly explained the human experience. We are constantly broken as we journey through life. So often we try to hide our flaws and our past, but kintsugi is about embracing everything and becoming more beautiful in the process. I am striving to find the beauty in everything about me that is broken.
